Progetto di ricerca “SIMpLE” (Smart solutIons for health Monitoring and independent mobiLity for Elderly and disable people) per pazienti affetti da SLA (Sclerosi Laterale Amiotrofica)

“SIMple” è un progetto di ricerca finanziato dal MIUR (Ministero dell’Istruzione, Università e della Ricerca dello Stato Italiano) finalizzato alla realizzazione di un sistema tecnologico avanzato, basato sull’interazione cervello-computer (BCI: Brain Computer Interface).

Lo scopo del progetto consiste nella realizzazione di un sistema tecnologico innovativo (add-on) installabile a bordo di carrozzelle elettriche commerciali, pensate  per persone diversamente abili: il sistema add-on è di tipo modulare e consiste in quattro sotto-sistemi:

  • modulo di guida controllato dai movimenti della testa del paziente: la testa funge da Joystick per la gestione delle traiettorie
  • modulo elettronico BCI indossabile dal paziente, in grado di controllare il movimento della carrozzella mediante l’uso dei biopotenziali cerebrali del distretto motorio; il paziente, completamente immobilizzato, risulta in grado di gestire i motori della carrozzella mediante l’immaginazione del movimento degli arti.
  • modulo biomedicale, finalizzato al monitoraggio in real-time dei parametri vitali, quali ECG, respirazione ed eventuali fenomeni di disfagia
  • modulo di geo-localizzazione della carrozzella e sistema di guida autonomo, senza l’intervento umano (unmanned)
